Student Drivers and Covid-19 Regulations Update

Mar 23, 2021 | Driver Training

For many, the recent pandemic has caused stress and confusion. Some people do not feel comfortable in public spaces, which can make outings challenging. For some student drivers this can be even more challenging. These necessary restrictions have made it difficult for them to practice their in-car driving and to book an upcoming road test.

At DriveWise, safety is our priority and we strive to keep social distancing measures in place during our in-class courses and driving lessons. We have made some necessary changes in our teaching techniques to make sure that our students and staff remain safe.

During our in-class SafeStart course, students and instructors are required to wear a face mask and keep a safe distance apart.

The class sizes have decreased to a maximum of nine students. This way, students will able be socially distant from one another. The measures that we have in place will keep students and instructors safe from cross-contamination and allow for students to feel comfortable during their in-class lessons.

We also offer virtual SafeStart classes for students who cannot come into our DriveWise facility. These classes offer the same lessons that you would receive from our in-class training. This allows students to continue their driving education from the comfort of their own homes.

Virtual and in-class students still have the opportunity to use our state-of-the-art simulators. Between each simulator session, we take extra precautions and sanitize the whole machine. During the simulator lessons, students are still required to wear face masks to keep the area as clean as possible. Instructors and staff are required to sanitize all equipment before students use it.

We have been running in-car lessons since Stage 3 of re-opening. During these sessions, both students and instructors are required to wear face masks. Between each student session, instructors are also required to sanitize the inside of the vehicle so students can avoid the spread of the virus.

These safety measures that we have in place will help slow down the spread of the virus. We also want to ensure the safety of our students and staff and try to make everyone’s experience as safe and comfortable as possible.
