Fuel trucks invariably have a high centre of gravity and are prone to rollover
- Always check mirrors before slowing
- To control the inertia and centrifugal forces speed must be slowed to a safe speed for that particular ramp
- Safe speed varies, depending on ramp sharpness, multi-lane, weather, traffic, etc.
- Remember posted ramp speeds are for passenger vehicles not heavy trucks
- If the temperature is near freezing or if the ramp is slippery or loose gravel slow the vehicle down even more to maintain traction
- Use your eye lead time to lead your truck gently into the curve and smooth and controlled steering
- Once the truck is slowed sufficiently apply gentle throttle coming out of the of the curve
