Our driver education programs combine impactful education with enjoyable learning. Our SafeStart Program features 40 hours of novice driver training, which includes 20 hours of interactive classroom learning (including simulation labs), 10 hours of online learning, and 10 hours of private one-on-one in-vehicle training with a qualified driving instructor. Choose SafeStart – the right start to a lifetime of safe driving.

Obtaining your Driver’s Licence

The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario has designed a two-step approach to obtaining your full G licence, in an effort to ensure new drivers are learning all the necessary skills required to be a safe and responsible driver. The graduated licensing system includes three stages: G1, G2, and G. The entire process takes most people about 20-months to complete. Find more information on the process and restrictions involved with each stage below.

Customized In-Vehicle Training

The Key to Safe and Confident Driving

Our programs are all rooted in our 6-Star Approach to Cooperative Driving. This proven learning model reinforces good driving habits while modifying driver behaviours and improving decision making ability. Our programs focus on training drivers to be proactive and anticipate potential risks while on the road. Drivers will have the opportunity to use these skills in the simulation labs prior to getting in the vehicle.

Defensive Driver Training

We prepare our students to be ready to safely maneuver emergency situations. Discussions in the classroom about potential emergency situations like dealing with a blown tire, avoiding a head-on collision, or rear-end collision are reinforced with experiential learning in the safety of the simulator. Students experience a variety of emergency situations in real-life scenarios on the simulator where they must put their skills to practice. Emergency maneuver skills are safely reviewed during in-vehicle lessons, with exercises like gravel shoulder recovery, rear crash avoidance, engine stall, and emergency braking.

Driver Improvement Course

This course helps everyday drivers understand how their attitudes and driving behaviours directly affect road safety. It focuses on cooperative driving, encouraging drivers to be proactive, aware, and considerate in all driving situations. Participants learn the DriveWise 6 Star Approach and practical safe-driving techniques, including space and speed management, handling adverse conditions, sharing the road, and avoiding risky behaviours. Through classroom learning, simulations, and in-vehicle practice, the course aims to reduce preventable collisions by strengthening situational awareness, decision-making, and the mindset required for safe, cooperative driving in everyday conditions.
