Tailored Training Solutions for Senior Drivers

A supportive learning environment designed for seniors.

Driving Training

Over time, everyone tends to pick up some bad habits while driving. An effective driver training program will greatly benefit drivers of any age by reinforcing good driving habits. Taking our senior driving program will ensure many more years of safe driving.

DriveWise senior programs are designed to minimize stress caused by driving. Participants have the option of training in a simulated environment, allowing driving errors to be corrected in a safe, comfortable and supportive atmosphere.

Safety-check seminar: A refresher course that can occur in a real-world or simulated environment, depending on participant needs. This includes two hours of in-car training.

Seniors Seminar: DriveWise offers information sessions specifically designed to assist seniors who are required to renew their licence. Contact the DriveWise Barrie centre for more information.

Private in-vehicle lessons and packages: Our highly qualified instructors will help to refresh your driving skills with one-on-one in car practice.

MTO Senior Drivers Licence Renewal Program

Ontario’s senior driver programs aim to keep seniors driving for as long as they can safely do so. Once drivers reach 80 years of age, every two years they must:

Take a vision test
Undergo a driver record review
Participate in a 45-minute Group Education Session (GES)
During the session, complete two brief non-computerized in-class screening assignments
If necessary, complete a road test

The entire renewal process takes approximately 90 minutes.

If you have questions about the program please contact the Ministry of Transportation at 1-800-396-4233 or 416-235-3579 (GTA)
