SENIOR DRIVING PROGRAMS

"But I've been driving for years... I don't need driving school!"

It’s true; you have a lot of experience driving, but everyone develops bad habits over time. An effective driver training program will greatly benefit drivers of any age in reinforcing good driving habits and behaviours. Taking our Senior Driving Program will ensure you have many more years of safe driving.

DriveWise Senior Programs are designed to minimize stress caused by driving. Participants have the option of training in a simulated environment, allowing driving errors to be corrected in a safe, comfortable and supportive atmosphere.

MTO Senior Drivers License Renewal Program

Ontario's senior driver programs aim to keep senior driving for as long as they can safely do so. Once drivers reach 80 years of age, every two years they must:

  • Take a vision test

  • Undergo a driver record review

  • Participate in a 45-minute Group Education Session (GES)

  • During the session, complete two brief non-computerized in-class screening assignments

  • If necessary, complete a road test

The entire renewal process takes approximately 90 minutes.

If you have questions about the program please contact the Ministry of Transportation at 1-800-396-4233 or 416-235-3579 (GTA)
